Maintaining an Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Beluga Sturgeon Hatchery

At Ukraine International Aquatics Research, we do more than just study endangered sturgeon species around the Black Sea. We also help preserve their population and rebuild their numbers. That’s why we practice sustainable fish farming at our hatchery.

How Our Fish Farming Works

Harvesting

We make sure our hatchery is not a stressful environment for beluga sturgeons. Additionally, we employ a “no-kill” approach to collecting their fish eggs so we do not harm the endangered fish species.

Processing

Unfertilized roes of the beluga sturgeons will be separated from the fertilized ones and made into high-quality caviar. These all-natural products are then sold at the most reasonable price and shipped directly to the customer.

Raising and Releasing

We put aside one kilogram of fertilized Beluga eggs from each fish and raise them. After six months, we release them into the wild as grown sturgeons to improve their odds of survival in the sea.
